My Thoughts: Well, I didn't realize this was a sequel when I agreed to review it. And I thought it was a graphic novel, for some reason. So I was a bit trepiditious when I started reading. I didn't need to while. While I probably would have enjoyed it even more understanding some of the jokes carried on from the first book, that didn't make this one any less hilarious. In fact, knowing how funny this was, it made me even more anxious to read the previous book, Paul is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion, which, thanks to the remnants of a gift certificate, is now on its way to me!

Anyway, the description "hilarious, gory" fits to a T - ludicrously gruesome would also fit. I laughed like a maniac throughout the book. The continual by-play, the over-the-top descriptions, the grotesqueness, it all added up to one super-fun, completely amazing and very amusing book. Fans of zombies, the Beatles, and satire will all find something to love in this epic romp through the jungle of the music business.

The Beatles + Zombies = A funny boook.

If you love The Beatles you should read this one because is a funny approach to them or at least at the zombies ones.

Give Death a Chance presents a world where Paul, John, Ringo and George are alive or sort of. They are a zombie band that is travelling through USA searching a way to have an fantastic come back.

The story evolves really fast and it is full with funny moments. With hilarious dialogues and the craziest of Liverpudlian Zombies. (And a lot of British winks).

The story names popular pop icons such as Madonna and Lady Gaga, to create a real and modern background. We are introduced to a whole new side of The Beatles. John is really crazy, it looks like he doesn't know how to deal with being a zombie or maybe he is just mad.

I have to say that some descriptions were VERY GRAPHIC, every step of the killings is very written wich is good. It's not disgusting, if you are a fan of horror films, you will find this very interesting.

The only thing I didn't understand well was the Ninja stuff but it didn't matter that much and it wasn't hard to read the book because of that. Maybe I should had read the first book before trying the second one.

Overall, a fun, quick and interesting book to read.

About the Author
Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, LISW-S, TEP, is a licensed clinical social worker and board-certified trainer, educator and practitioner of psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy. She has worked with people with depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders and body image dissatisfaction since 1989. She is the co-author of Integrating Psychodrama and Systemic Constellation Work, also published by JKP. Her training and psychotherapy practice is based in Racine, Wisconsin. Linda Ciotola, M.Ed., TEP, CET III, is also a board-certified trainer, educator and practitioner of psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy, as well as a certified trainer and team leader in The Therapeutic Spiral Model of Psychodrama and a certified health education specialist. She has worked with people with eating disorders and body image issues since 1990. She is an American Council on Exercise Gold Certified Personal Trainer, an ACE Gold Certified Health Coach, an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Yoga Instructor, as well as a certified Reiki Master practitioner. Compassionate and Comprehensive

Prior to reading this book, I did not know what psychodrama was exactly nor was I aware that eating disorders can occur in men and children. The authors have created a book that illuminates the subject in such a compassionate way that is backed up by thorough research that recognizes the contribution of others to the field. As a holistic practitioner I recognize the value of addressing life challenges with a variety of methods that seek to balance mind, body and spirit through pathways that resonate with the individual. What works with one person does not necessarily work with another as we are all individuals with our own experiences that create the person we present to the world as well as our private persona.

I first became familiar with Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory through my YogaKids training. In his book Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences published in 1983, Gardner outlined 8 intelligent abilities: musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic. Gardner’s theory promotes the idea that people learn through a combination of pathways. Action methods such as psychodrama tap into multiple modes of discovering patterns and “unlearning” behaviors that undermine health and wellbeing. Moreno’s role theory of personality is based upon somatic (physical), social (interpersonal), and psychodramatic (fantasy) roles. For kinesthetic learners, this approach may be particularly beneficial as they let go of old roles which no longer serve them (mindless eater) and learn new roles which do (mindful eater).

As a Reiki practitioner and teacher, I was delighted that the authors included Reiki as one of the action methods that was used by them synergistically with other methods. Reiki can be integrated into many other modalities with a little creativity. The authors also related how Reiki can bring to the conscious mind of the practitioner information derived intuitively through the Reiki energy practice. This intuitive information that often means little to the practitioner is always significant and focuses light on the exact piece of information or experience that most needs to be brought to the conscious mind of the client. When related in a compassionate way, the information adds to the healing process already begun with the Reiki energy session. I highly recommend this book to any holistic practitioner who is open to new ways to help their clients in their healing process.

Practical and Thorough

i could use the ideas from this book even though I do not use psychodrama in my practice. It demonstrates how an eating disorder is not just about the person exhibiting the symptoms and it is not just about today's society or culture, it is much more. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a broader perspective of eating disorders. It is a must for educators and mental health practitioners.

Good mind-candy D&D story

This was one of Lain's better plots, and the character choices were interesting in that for the first time (or at least, as I can recall), there were no humans involved.

Tordek, the dwarf fighter, Vadania the elven druidess, Devis the half-elf bard, and Lidda the halfing rogue hook up to delve deep into a once-Dwarven stronghold that has been taken by evil. They all have a reason: Tordek wants to avenge a wrong against the Dwarven people, Vadania wants to stop the foul forge's sludge from ruining the forest, Devis wants a heroic story, and Lidda ... wants cash.

But! As the story progresses, there's actual character development, especially with Devis (who we've not really seen in a while, and whose serious side gets a bit of brief attention). Tordek's history is explained, and I liked it.

The cohesiveness of Lain's world is a bit off sometimes, and the way that "evil creatures of the week" seem to gang up on the heroes is sometimes a bit amiss, but this had some strength to it. Cursed evil weapons being reforged in hellfire on a profaned Dwarven altar by demonic forces intent on bringing a demon into the world? Oooh yeah.

Can they stop it? Of course they can. They're heroes. THe fun is in the how.

Sundered Grammar

When a chapter is titled "Dissention" (sic), you know the editor is asleep at the switch. There are unfortunately more instances of bad grammar, as well as a quote from The Empire Strikes Back that take this from an average dungeon crawl to less than average.

We have three returning characters, Devis the half-elf Bard, Vadania the druid and Lidda the halfing rogue. Vadania and Lidda are uncharacteristically besotted with Devis though they are both experienced enough to know better, particularly Vadania. Tordek a dwarven fighter is the new iconic addition and Vadania is given a wolverine companion.

That being said, the actual adventure is fairly good. Some really powerful enemies and enchanted weapons with a satisfying ending. It is really too bad that this series suffers from an editor who shows such disregard to the readers by allowing such continuity and basic english mistakes.

Very Traditional Dungeons & Dragons story and sory line.
Would have been nice if the series was longer or the books were longer or the series was more tightly interconected.
On the plus side any of the books can be read in any order.

Revisit Alaska This Holiday Season

Carrie Slayton was tired of reporting for the society pages. She wanted a story that can make a difference. Then a chance to prove herself fell into her lap. If she can find and interview the reclusive author, Finn Dalton, she can have any story she wanted. But when Carrie found Finn, she realized she could fall for this man. But they were from two different worlds. Plus with Finn's hatred towards women and reporters, will they have a chance at love?

Loved it. Sweet, simple and refreshing. This book will be a walk down memory lane as Macomber returns to good, old-fashioned romance. I couldn't put this book down, waiting to see what would happen next. However, the plot can be predictable. So if you are expecting something different, this was not it. The writing was well done as always. The plot was well paced. There wasn't much drama, with a little humor here and there. The characters were likeable, straight and true. (I wasn't a fan of Carrie's friend though. She was little too interfering.) The heroine truly made this story. Carrie had a good head on her shoulders and honest to a fault. I had to respect her. And Finn was just yummy.

In my opinion, the price is a little steep for a run-of-the-mill romance. However, if you are a collector of the author's books, it is definitely worth getting getting the hardcover version for the holiday season and would be a perfect stocking stuffer for a fellow reader. Everyone else? Might I suggest waiting for the paperback version. I only gave it 4 stars since I don't have the urge to reread it. But the story does stay with you and definitely becomes a keeper. If you are into sweet, clean romances, get this book when you can. Fans (especially ones who like the Midnight Sons series) will not be disappointed with this holiday read.

Leelee is back!!

Loved, loved, loved Lisa Patton's newest book! I couldn't put it down. All the characters from the previous books show up as Lisa takes us on another heartfelt Leelee adventure. Curl up on the couch and step into this delightful, funny story about family, love, courage and acceptance.

I'm a diehard fan since her first book. She keeps you glued to your seat like a chick flick on a Sunday afternoon on lifetime tv. Love love LOVE her books!!!! (And yes I'm a Yankee transplanted to the south ) :)

Wonderful Read!

Leelee's journey continues, ya'll! I've been hooked since the very first line of the first book (Whistlin' Dixie in a Nor'easter: A Novel) in this trilogy . Like the other two, this book did not disappoint. I did not want to put it down! I loved all the comparisons between the North and the South. And I love Lisa's style of writing. If you're looking for a fun, easy read I'd definitely recommend this book.
