My Favorite Series... A must read!

WOW, just WOW!!! Donna Grant has done it again and although I am sad this amazing series has come to an end, with the exception on the holiday novella, I don't feel there was much more Donna could have done to make Midnight's Promise any better. Malcolm is a highlander in every sense of the word. I fell in love with Malcolm the first time we met him in Forbidden Highlander. Yes, it has been a love-hate relationship, but I always knew Malcolm would find his destiny and what he truly deserved in life. Deirdre took way too much for Malcolm and he was on the brink of never turning back from the dark side-- until Evie. Evangeline Walker was a druid who believes she is the only druid left in the world. She learns the hard way that she is not. It takes a man like Malcolm Monroe to set her straight. Evie is a strong woman who is determined to take on the world for Malcolm. I loved all of the twists and turns of Midnight's Promise and was shocked by some of the new details we learn in the story. It takes Evie, Malcolm and the Dragon Kings to figure out what Jason Wallace has on his side and what he plans to do with it. In the end it all comes down to one person to find their inner strength and learn what it will take to destroy Jason forever! The story that unfolds between Malcolm and Evie is wonderful, deserving and also hard for them to follow through with at times, but so worth the wait! I am truly happy for all of the characters in both the Dark Sword and Dark Warriors series and am so thankful they found what they deserved in life. Thank Donna for such an amazing series, and characters. I loved being apart of this journey and falling into your world of magic, love, druids and mostly, highland warriors!! My favorite all time series, by far!

Love me some Malcolm!

That is until he feels the pulse of a certain Druid’s power that entrances him and leads him to a place he thought never to return; Carin Toul.
Evie Walker is on the run from an unknown hacker that is after the necklace her family has guarded for centuries. But when it appears she’s out of options the stones of Carin Toul call to her promising her safety. And, when the aloof Malcolm takes an interest in her, both of their lives change forever.
First, I must say that I have loved me some Malcolm from the moment he was introduced into this series and this is a book that I’ve been hoping and praying would come to pass. I could hardly wait to delve in as I had one thing on my mind: Malcolm Malcolm Malcolm! And, for those of you that share my obsession with this scarred Highland Warrior, you won’t be disappointed! I LOVED this book!
Malcolm has been an outsider throughout this series and we’ve seen him drift further and further away from those that want to help him. He is one of the most flushed out characters of this series with his heart-wrenching back-story from being attacked while on his way to visit Larena, only to be captured by Deidre and the horrors that came afterward. I have been dying for him to find happiness and of course his mate (if it must be someone other than me *sigh*)!
Evie on the other hand seems to be pretty naïve most of the time, but I found myself really liking her. She also starts to mature as the book continues, which is nice. It’s interesting to see how her decisions truly affect the other characters of this series.
This book really brings everything to a head, especially the conflict with Jason. We get to see what Jason’s end plan is and how he expects to use Evie and Malcolm to achieve it. After certain actions are put into motion, it leaves you wondering how the Warriors, Druids, and Dragons will ever overcome the obstacles laid before them, but I never had a doubt that they would!
This book focuses on the prophecy mentioned in the previous installment, Midnight’s Temptation, and I loved every second of it! There is so much emotion and action that I couldn’t put it down! And, I’m in fact writing this at 2 a.m., since that is when I finally read the last sentence of the book.
Like I mentioned, this book is awesome, but it is also bittersweet. They last few pages makes it appear that this will be the final book of the series. It reminds me very much of the end of a movie where they show pictures of the character and have you read below each one to find out what happened to them; how they ended up. And, it makes everything seem so final with the series. It makes sense as all the Warriors are now mated, but it doesn’t make me any less sad about it. Hopefully we will still see glimpses of our favorites throughout the rest of the Dragon Kings series, which seems to have endless possibilities considering the unnumbered amount of Kings in existence!
I urge all you Donna Grant fans, especially my fellow Malcolm lovers, to go out, buy this book, read it (over and over again), cherish it, and just enjoy! I know this book is one that I will not be satisfied by reading only once.

Addicting.

This is the 8th book in Donna Grant's Dark Warrior series, and if I'm not mistaken the last book. Believe it or not I actually have all but one of the previous books in this series yet I have not read any of them and started the series with this one. Yep. Starting at the end. Usually this would annoy me to no end and I would beat myself up about it for weeks, however this book was too addicting to even care and putting it down was a hard struggle. However, when I was forced to put it down my mind still retained its grasp on all things Malclom & Evie.
Now, obviously starting any series at the end you are going to miss out on a great deal and it was obvious that I had missed a great deal by skipping ahead of the series as certain things explained were thrown completely over my head. But I didn't care because the story that was given was all to easy to get lost in and my focus was not on all that I had missed out on but what was happening. Still, I would suggest holding off on reading this one until you can get through the rest.
There were certain moments where Evie got on my nerves and was just plain stupid and I wanted to smack her with the book but unlike most characters I've come across it was all too easy to dismiss and ignore. Why? Simple. Midnight's Promise is one hell of a read. It's easy to ignore the annoying bits, especially when they are few and far between, to focus on the awesome. Which there was a lot of.
If you are a huge fan of the Dark Warriors and were worried about how this final ending would all be tied up fear not as it has one of the best endings ever. Seriously, I can't go into great detail about it because that would ruin it but rest assured that anything and everything you'll want to know about your favorite characters from previous books will all be tied up nicely with a big pretty bow. This is definitely a must read for those who follow this series and a must "add-to-TBR" for those who haven't. I for one will be going back to the beginning to discover what all lead to such an amazing end.
