Poison that can also cure

I've read the book and the reviews here, the latter are more about themselves than the book. I'm sorry if being radically honest, which has some rudeness to our politically correct culture, crashed a relationship, Compassion may not be as emphasized as needed, we don;t need to "blast" others with how we feel, when often, that resentment has built up over years of not being expressed, so when it finally does come out, like wars in the collective world, there is collateral damage. But these stories here are pioneering ones. They are real people with the courage (and naivity) to speak their minds, to bring up resentments, etc. To clear the air. You need a safe setting, and a partner willing to listen, who feels safe enough to not take this truth telling personally as an attack on the ego most folks are usually (over) identified with. Point of the book is that the method "works", there is value to clearing the air. There are no guarantees, but, there comes a time when its no longer worth the suffering of holding it in, and its worth the risk. People in this book took that risk with some discernment and understanding and compassion. And, yes, book might not harp on this, but its not going to work out for everyone. We won't all live happily ever after. We might. But at least we will have some more depth and soul and empathy, hopefully. Its a double edged sword. If our politicans starting telling the truth, would we survive? Probably, but it would be a rocky road coming to terms with our own denial and fears, much more easily projected onto the outer "enemy", "the Great Satan", "the big bad terrrorists who hate our freedom", than dealing with our own hurts, and our own power that comes from living our own individual unique truth, which can also include the occasional lie as well. Can't have truth without lies; good without evil; God without Satan, right?

Not nearly as good as I expected it to be

I'm a big fan of Brad Blanton and loved "Radical Honesty" but I was disappointed in this book of personal stories written by people who have tried to apply Blanton's "Radical Honesty" principles to their own lives. Perhaps my expectations were too high *because* I liked "Radical Honesty" so much. I lost interest after reading the first few, and haven't picked the book back up.

Don't agree with his version of "honesty"

I have read a number of Brad Blanton's books when I was in a malcontent phase, find they contribute nothing to being healthier, happier, or more honest. Personally thinks its a rationale for bad behavior.
